April 2020: Cute boy takes a chance and asks girl out on a date to walk around their college campus.
May 2020: Said boy and I hang out every week more and more often until life circumstances move boy out of Wichita, KS, and back home to Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma.
March 2024: Same cute boy never forgot his dream girl, and after years of missing the window the stars aligned. After their second first date to a local speak easy, they both knew they would be together and it was only a matter of time.
May 2024: After weeks of long distance driving and growth as a pair, he popped the first question, making them officially boyfriend & girlfriend, along the bank of lake Thunderbird in Norman, Oklahoma. This began the long distance saga.
June 2025: Finally, the wait is over. The cute boy and his long distance girlfriend finally joined houses and lives, settling down in Wichita, KS to create a life together.
The rest, as they say, is history!

Let me tell you the story of how I planned a surprise proposal for somebody who can see a surprise coming from a mile away. I knew she needed to have her family and friends there and I knew I wanted my family and friends there as well.
One problem...I knew if she saw any of my friends and/or family she would know I was about to propose and that couldn't happen, so I did what any good future fiance would do. I lied through my teeth and put together a plan with many moving parts behind her back.
Three people played vital roles in making this proposal a success:
First, was Taylor's father who not only helped me last second troubleshoot but also kept Taylor's whole family on task so Taylor was not late to her own proposal.
Second, was Logan, Taylor's now Matron of Honor. Logan helped me organize a photographer, hide my friends and family, found the perfect place at Botanica, the local garden, to propose, and put everyone in place. She also had been lying to Taylor about when I was going to propose telling her, "oh he is not even close to ready to propose, while doing Taylor's "trial nails" knowing full and well the proposal was right around the corner.
Third was Zach, my now best man. He managed to make sure we had reservations at the post-proposal dinner while getting his whole family up to Wichita. The restaurant he chose was a pizza spot, that coincidentally used to be home to a Chinese buffet visited weekly by Taylor's family when she was a young child.
The three of them not only ensured that Taylor had no idea she was going to get proposed to, but also succeeded in helping me make the moment even more magical. When I had finished proposing, she was now looking at a large mix of our friends and family.
To top off this magical moment we were getting cheers from well over a hundred strangers at Botanica making it a truly magical moment for both us.
That is how I managed to propose to Taylor and ensure that she never saw it coming.
